Illyana Nikolievna Rasputin
was a young girl living with her family in Russia when her older brother
Piotr discovered he was a mutant, an ability he first discovered when he
saved Illyana from a run away tractor. Piotr then left for America and
joined the super mutant team known as the X-men. During one of the X-men's
missions, they encountered a villain by the name of Arcade, who had kidnapped
family members of the X-men. Among them, young Illyana. After the X-men
freed their family members, Illyana stayed with her brother in America
with the X-men, believing her to be safer there.
Young
Illyana soon befriended Kitty Pryde, her brothers teamate and girlfriend,
and though Illyana knew no English at all, that two became best friends.
She stayed with the X-men for 3 years (our time) before she was used for
a real plot line. Her original purpose was simply to give Piotr's character
more depth. |
